Tom Holland Might Have Pitched A Sex Scene For Spider-Man: Homecoming

The acclaimed Spider-Man: Homecoming had it all. Superheroics, high school drama, humour… But what it needed more of, at least according to its star Tom Holland, was some nudity and a “really passionate” sex scene.

Speaking to Capital FM earlier in the month, Holland talked about how pleased he was that he felt included in the filmmaking process with Homecoming as he pitched Marvel several ideas, some of which ended up in the finished product.

“I’ve always wanted to be in a movie where I could collaborate with the director and the producers to bring ideas to the table. I’m just lucky that I had the opportunity with this movie.  I mean, I was writing scenes and writing ideas and making set pieces and just sending them off to Marvel. A lot of them, they were like, ‘No, dude, that’s a terrible idea.’ But a couple they did take and put in the movie.”

When pushed for what ideas of his didn’t make it in, Holland smiled and said that he asked for a sex scene to be included.

“I was like, ‘We should have a really passionate sex scene,’ and they were like, ‘No, I don’t think so’ … Fully nude, and I am method, you know. It’s the only way.”

There’s a lot of laughter and joking going on in the interview, so we’re not quite sure if Holland genuinely did pitch Marvel this scene. In all likelihood, though, he didn’t.

Tom’s a smart guy and he knows that Marvel movies have got to stay within the parameters of their PG-13 certificate. That said, Wonder Woman recently managed that rating with a scene with Chris Pine in the buff, so who knows what might happen in future Spidey films?

Spider-Man: Homecoming sans sex scene – is in theatres now.
