This is an exciting time to be a Marvel fan. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in full swing, Thor: The Dark World is headed to theaters shortly, Phase Three plans are falling into place, and now, the very first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has hit the web, arriving on the heels of the great poster that was released earlier in the week and the two photos that we saw yesterday.

I won’t get into the specifics of the trailer (as I don’t want to spoil it) but as expected, it follows the mould of most Marvel Studios’ previews. We get glimpses at some of the film’s biggest set pieces (the helicarrier going down looks amazing) and find out just enough about the story to leave us curious as to how everything will tie together with the studio’s other phase two efforts.

Overall, it’s a great first look at the film and at some of the new cast members (Robert Redford looks like he’s fitting into Marvel’s universe very comfortably). If nothing else, it should prove to everyone that Chris Evans is getting better and better at his portrayal of Steve Rogers with every appearance.

I also particularly enjoyed the playful banter between Black Widow and the Cap that we see at the start of the trailer. The two of them should make for an entertaining pair and I’m eager to see them working together again.

For those who aren’t familiar with the film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier picks up with the Captain as he tries to fit in with the modern world. That acclimation is interrupted by a new threat that forces him to team up with the Black Widow and the Falcon as soon they find themselves up against a new villain – the Winter Soldier.

The film was originally supposed to release on April 4th, 2014, but now the folks over at Den Of Geek say that it may hit the UK before that. That’s happened for prior Marvel movies, but it does seem a bit odd that the hero with America in his name wouldn’t be seen in the United States of America first. We’ll have to see if an official announcement regarding that change is made. Until then, all we have to worry about is watching this trailer and getting excited for what Marvel has coming our way.

Check out the trailer below and then head on down to the comments section to share your thoughts on Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
