2014 is crammed with highly-anticipated science-fiction blockbusters, from Transcendence to Godzilla to X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the one that I’m unquestionably most excited for is Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi thriller Interstellar.

The film, which will soar into theaters next November, boasts an intriguing premise and an all-star cast (Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine). In case you haven’t been keeping up, the first official plot synopsis reads as follows:

Interstellar focuses on the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

Nolan previously brought us the excellent mind-benders Memento and Inception, but he’s never before applied his singularly twisty and ambitious directorial style to the final frontier, so the potential for Interstellar to be one of the best (and most puzzling) films about space travel in decades seems extremely high.

For those of you wondering when you can get your first look at the film, we have some good news to share. Paramount and Warner Bros. announced today that they will be attaching the first trailer for Interstellar to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which opens in theaters on December 13th. The trailer will run for 1 minute and 43 seconds, which suggests that it may act as more of an announcement that the film is on its way than a focused look at the plot. Whatever we end up seeing, it will no doubt be very exciting. Here’s hoping that we get some actual footage though.

Are you excited for Nolan’s latest brain-bender? Sound off in the comments section below.

Interstellar opens in theaters on November 7th, 2014.
