Transformers: Age Of Extinction Gets A Teaser And Poster Before Tuesday’s Full Trailer Premiere

When is a trailer not a trailer? When it's a teaser, of course! In one of the most frustrating Hollywood trends in recent years, major studios have started releasing trailers for their trailers, previewing around two-and-a-half minutes of footage with a measly 10 or 20 seconds. The latest likely blockbuster to get this treatment, Transformers: Age of Extinction, just received a 20-second teaser courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, who will premiere the full trailer tomorrow.

When is a trailer not a trailer? When it’s a teaser, of course!

Complete with an irritating voiceover that dubs Transformers: Age of Extinction “the most anticipated movie of the summer” (excuse me, Entertainment Tonight, ever heard of The Amazing Spider-Man 2X-Men: Days of Future PastGodzillaGuardians of the Galaxy, or practically any other franchise flick hitting screens this summer?), this teaser shows only glimpses of the sequel’s action and characters.

You can check it out below:

If you’re watching carefully, you’ll spot Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor as the film’s main human players, a dinobot wrecking some buildings, and Optimus Prime (boasting a shiny new paint job, natch). Of course, the official trailer tomorrow will give us a better idea of what to expect from Transformers: Age of Extinction, specifically regarding how its story and characters fit into the series’ overall mythology.

The film, the fourth in the massively successful series by Michael Bay, is a reboot for the Transformers franchise. Gone are Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his two unbelievably gorgeous gal pals, played by Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and it doesn’t even look like fan favorites Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and Epps (Tyrese Gibson) will be putting in an appearance. In other words, it’s a clean slate for the series.

Transformers: Age of Extinction features Wahlberg, Reynor and Peltz in the main roles, alongside Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing and T.J. Miller.

Check out a poster for Wahlberg’s character below and let us know, are you excited for this new Transformers film?

Transformers: Age of Extinction hits in 3D on June 27.
