What is the Netflix global event, Tudum?

It's not the kind of event you want to miss out on, that's for sure.

The binge-watching event of the year is finally upon us with Netflix’s third annual Tudum. The global fan event has become a staple for the streaming studio, with its inaugural event kicking off in 2020. Since then, it has successfully whipped up hype for the event with promises to satiate the appetite of fans who are salivating for information about their favorite movies and television shows. But in case you missed it last year, let’s get you caught up on what exactly Tudum is, and how you might be able to watch it.

So, what is Tudum?

As mentioned above, Netflix’s Tudum started back in 2020. It is a self-described “Global Fan Event,” which is similar to another Netflix event, Geeked Week, except Tudum focuses on everything under Netflix’s banner, not just the geeky news. This year’s Tudum will be taking place on June 17, 2023, and will showcase news, first-looks, behind-the-scenes, and never-before-seen footage from some of Netflix’s most beloved properties, as well as its most anticipated. Over 45 movies and TV shows will be featured across the 2-hour event, so buckle in.

According to the trailer, the following properties will be featured at the event:

  • 3 Body Problem
  • All the Light We Cannot See
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Back to 15
  • Berlin
  • Bridgerton
  • Cobra Kai
  • Emily in Paris
  • Extraction 2
  • FUBAR
  • Heart of Stone
  • Heartstopper
  • Lift
  • Love Is Blind
  • Lupin
  • Never Have I Ever
  • One Piece
  • Outer Banks
  • Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
  • Rebel Moon
  • Sintonia
  • Squid Game
  • Stranger Things
  • The Archies
  • The Chosen One
  • The Witcher
  • The Cloned Tyrone
  • Through My Window: Across the Sea
  • Wednesday
  • You

Last year’s event heavily focused on Stranger Things as a prominent presence, with actors Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Wink, and Joe Keery occupying a significant portion of the trailer. This year, that honor goes to Chris Hemsworth, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Gal Gadot, among others. The trailer also showed a number of stars who will seemingly be presenting their projects, including Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Jamie Dornan, Tenoch Huerta, Zack Snyder, Iñaki Godoy, Golda Rosheuvel, and several more. As you can see, Netflix pulls out all of its big guns for the fan event.

Hemsworth and Gadot promise “a lot of action” and “unexpected surprises around every corner” at this year’s event. However, they’re likely talking about their respective movies Extraction and Heart of Stone, both of which we can expect sneak peeks from. Nevertheless, the event itself is jam-packed with exciting promises, too, and will likely throw a surprise or two at us; personally, I’m hoping for some The Witcher, Squid Game, and Heartstopper content.

So how can you, the viewer, take part in the event? Simply head over to the streaming platform’s YouTube page on the day of the event. Because it is a global event, times will vary. In the U.S. that is 1:30pm PST and 4:30pm EST. Those across the pond can tune in starting at 9:30pm BST while those in Brazil can start watching at 5:30pm BRT.

To watch the actual event, you can tune into Netflix’s YouTube channel here, which conveniently tells you how much time you have left for each video to go live in your time zone, saving you a Google search. Be sure to watch if you want updates on all your favorite upcoming Netflix content, as they will undoubtedly be showing some exclusive looks.

As for whether you are actually pronouncing Tudum correctly… that’s another question entirely. Here’s how you can find out.
