It was revealed earlier today that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is apparently undergoing reshoots because Disney are having some major concerns about how well the movie is testing. As a result, expensive reshoots have reportedly been scheduled for the summer, but now two reporters from the Hollywood trades have offered some clarification on the matter.

First up is Variety’s Justin Kroll, who says that reshoots were always expected and that there’s no reason to worry. The main reason for that is because “most of the shoot will involve the cameo of a very important character.” Who? Well, considering the fact that we’ve heard reports of Alden Ehrenreich showing up in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as Han Solo, it should be pretty obvious.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, meanwhile, has added to Kroll’s news, mentioning that the first cut being “pretty serious” has resulted in the studio wanting reshoots to ” inject that fun, classic Star Wars feel,” to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He also mentions that the movie is “as prequel-y as a prequel can get, leading up to 10 minutes before A New Hope begins.”

Ultimately, it sounds like the truth of that report from this morning lies somewhere in the middle. While there’s probably nothing to worry about, it should be interesting to see what else we hear about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story over the next few months and whether this franchise will become the latest to be plagued by these sorts of negative rumours.
