Vera Farmiga Shares First BTS Photo From The Conjuring 3

By now, you've probably noticed how The Conjuring franchise has cemented itself as one of the biggest and most lucrative in the horror genre at the moment. Having already seriously scared moviegoers with two installments of its own, it's also birthed a cinematic universe, which has added the likes of The Nun and two Annabelle films (soon to be three) to its ranks.

And while everyone loves a good spinoff, it’s safe to say that most people are probably wondering when the next mainline entry in the saga will arrive: The Conjuring 3. Well, that’ll be with us later next year and apparently, production has now begun. We have star Vera Farmiga to thank for the announcement, as the actress took to Twitter to share a behind the scenes snap of her and co-star Patrick Wilson.

It doesn’t show us anything from the movie itself, but you can see the two talents together in the photo below, seemingly enjoying one another’s company.

Plot-wise, producer James Wan has told us that the threequel will move away from the haunted house formula of the first two outings and instead tell the story of a man on trial for murder who uses demonic possession as his defense. Apparently, it’s based on a real case file from paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who’ll be brought to life once more by Wilson and Farmiga, respectively.

Meanwhile, taking over from Wan behind the camera is Curse of La Llorona helmsman Michael Chaves, whose aforementioned feature did quite well for itself at the box office. Will he be able to replicate that success with The Conjuring 3? Time will tell, but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the pic as it heads deeper into production.
