Vincent D’Onofrio Wants To Do A Moon Knight Movie With James Gunn

As one of the best villains Marvel has ever produced, across both the big and small screen, fans are understandably eager to see more of Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. After having a huge presence in season 1 of Daredevil, the character wasn't quite as involved in season 2, but that doesn't mean we should count him out just yet. The actor has said in the past that Kingpin will definitely return, it's just a matter of when. And so, while D'Onofrio patiently waits for Marvel to give him a call for his next appearance, it seems that he's got his eye on another one of the studio's properties.

As one of the best villains Marvel has ever produced, across both the big and small screen, fans are understandably eager to see more of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. After having a huge presence in season 1 of Daredevil, the character wasn’t quite as involved in season 2, but that doesn’t mean we should count him out just yet. The actor has said in the past that Kingpin will definitely return, it’s just a matter of when. And so, while D’Onofrio patiently waits for Marvel to give him a call for his next appearance, it seems that he’s got his eye on another one of the studio’s properties.

Though it hasn’t been given any sort of green light just yet, there’s been a lot of chatter around Moon Knight being brought to live-action recently. First we heard of a potential Netflix show for the Marvel character, and then earlier this week Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn stated that he’d actually spoken with the studio about making a feature film for the anti-hero. As far as we know, nothing’s in development just yet, but it seems that Gunn isn’t the only one who’s a fan of Moon Knight.

Taking to Twitter a few days ago, D’Onofrio said that he’d love to be involved in the project as well:

Now, whether the actor is simply saying that he’d like to play Kingpin in the Moon Knight movie (or Netflix show) or he’d like to take on a different role is unclear. The two characters don’t associate very much in the comics, so it’s probably the latter, but you never know. Marvel often takes many liberties with the source material and they could very well find a way to work Kingpin into Moon Knight’s world.

Of course, the fact that D’Onofrio is already part of the MCU could be an issue here, as fans may be confused if he shows up in another role after playing Kingpin. Then again, if Moon Knight were to get a feature film and the Daredevil villain remained on the small screen, it could possibly work. At this point though, there’s been nothing confirmed yet as far as Moon Knight adaptations go and as such, it’s not worth worrying about.

Still, it’s nice to hear that Vincent D’Onofrio’s a fan. He’s a tremendous actor who brings a strong screen presence and sense of gravitas to all his roles. Granted Marvel could work out the kinks, we’d be all for seeing him appear in a Moon Knight film or TV show.
