Warner Bros. Eyeing Game Of Thrones Star To Replace Ben Affleck In The Batman

Right now it's anyone's guess who'll next appear in the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves' The Batman. There's only one thing we can be fairly confident about: it won't be Ben Affleck. Leaving his well-publicised personal problems to one side, Warner Bros have indicated that they'd like a younger take on the character, perhaps with a less muscular build. Previous stories have putJake Gyllenhaal and Jack Huston in contention for the role, and now we can add another: Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.

Right now, it’s anyone’s guess who’ll next appear in the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. There’s only one thing we can be fairly confident about, though, and that’s that it won’t be Ben Affleck. Leaving his well-publicized personal problems to the side, Warner Bros. have indicated that they’d like a younger take on the character. Previous reports have put Jake Gyllenhaal and Jack Huston in contention for the role and now, we can add another in the form of Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.

That’s according to Revenge of the Fans, who say that the studio requested a digital mockup of Harington in the Batsuit. For those not in the know, these are pieces of art that give executives a visual idea of how someone might look in the role. Now, this doesn’t mean that Harington’s going to end up playing Batman. It could be just that the studio was curious about whether he’d fit their idea of how the character should look. Then again, it could also indicate that they’re interested in him for the part. At least, to some degree.

Also interesting is that Revenge of the Fans has another actor they think’s being lined up for the role that they’re not comfortable sharing yet. They’re claiming that he’s “far closer to the Affleck mould than any of these other names” and that if they revealed who it was, it’d be the biggest story of their career. Of course, that begs the question: who would be such a controversial and unexpected pick?

Well, what would be a bigger story than Daniel Craig giving up Bond to play Bats? After all, Bond 25 has just hit the skids with the loss of director Danny Boyle and Craig famously said he’d “rather slit his throat” than tackle the role again. Or, while I’m tossing names out, how about Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm or heck, even Leonardo DiCaprio?

Right now, all we can do is speculate, but tell us, who do you think should star in The Batman? As always, feel free to leave your thoughts down below.
