Is Jack O’Connell destined to become the next Batman?

That’s what the folks over at That Hashtag Show believe, as their sources tell them that Warner Bros. is eyeing the actor to play Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Of course, there’s no been confirmation from the studio on this just yet, but truth be told, ever since it was revealed that Ben Affleck had checked himself into a rehab facility, we’ve come to expect a changing of the guard – it’s really a question of when, rather than if, at this point.

Already, Kit Harington and Ryan Gosling have been ruled out, while Star Wars alum Oscar Isaac is seemingly no longer in contention for the much sought after role, either. That means Matt Reeves is still searching for his new Batman, especially since Affleck appears closer to the exit door than ever before.

As for O’Connell, though he’s far from a household name, he’s certainly a strong and exciting talent in Hollywood. An English actor who first broke out in This Is England, he’s also been seen in Starred Up’71 and Unbroken. Not to mention he’s got a BAFTA Rising Star Award to his name, too.

Sure, he may seem like an unconventional choice to suit up as the next Dark Knight, but the comic book movie genre is no stranger to unconventional casting choices that ended up working out very well in the end (see: Heath Ledger, Michael Keaton, etc.). And if indeed O’Connell finds himself as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, you wouldn’t hear any complaints out of us.

What do you think, though? Would the actor make for a good Caped Crusader, or do you have someone else in mind for the role? As always, you can make yourself heard down below.
