It’s been a little while since the audience has been eagerly waiting for another Scorsese movie to grace the screen. Well, the wait is going to be over very soon as the prestigious Academy Award-winning filmmaker is adding another project to his filmography, which is going to be released in theatres this year, on Oct. 6, 2023, and see a further expansion to more theatres around the world on Oct. 20, even though it is uncertain whether the movie is going to see a release anytime soon on streaming platforms, especially on Apple TV Plus.
Undoubtedly, this new Scorsese project, Killers of the Flower Moon is the most anticipated film of the year, which will see a partnership between Paramount Pictures and Apple TV Plus for its theatrical release.
However, since the announcement of its imminent release, a wide range of fans has displayed enthusiasm and interest to gather a little more information about the film, particularly the plot and the possible cast members.
Until now, any details about the plot or the story remain scarce, especially as the film’s trailer is yet to be released. The only information known about the film is that it’s a historical crime drama about the murder of the oil-rich Osage tribe members, which is based on the best-selling novel by David Grann named Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.
To the viewers’ satisfaction, Apple TV has provided a glimpse of the storyline which goes:
“Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.”
Nevertheless, one can expect a solid plot given the scriptwriters are none other than Scorsese himself in collaboration with Eric Roth, who has been credited for penning down the scripts of some of the biggest blockbusters such as Dune and Forrest Gump.
A promising script, a renowned filmmaker, and an engaging plot. What else are we missing that can serve as icing on the cake? It’s the star-studded cast members, of course, which include two of Scorsese’s regulars; Leonardo DiCaprio, who is believed to play the family patriarch Ernest Burkhart, and Robert De Niro, who is set to play William Hale.
Both DiCaprio and De Niro appear to have been an essential part of Scorsese’s filmography, appearing in a total of five and nine movies by the director, respectively. Other well-known cast members include Lily Gladstone as Mollie Burkhart, Jesse Plemmons as Tom White, and Brendan Fraser as W.S Hamilton, to name a few.
With the seemingly engaging storyline, impressive cast, and an approaching theatrical release, the audience is all set to enjoy this new delivery by Scorsese.
