Even the might of all the Avengers combined couldn’t prevent Thanos from wiping out half the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. But what if they’d had just one extra man on their side? Say, a certain immortal mutant from the X-Men franchise? Would Wolverine have been able to save the day?

This epic fan edit imagines what it would’ve been like if Hugh Jackman’s Logan appeared in IW and managed to kill Thanos. Splicing together footage from the climax of both Avengers: Infinity War and X-Men: The Last Stand, it paints a picture of the villain trying to snap Wolverine out of existence but his healing factor keeping him alive. Then when he’s close enough, the hero bests the big bad.

Of course, this isn’t the first time fans have imagined Logan laying into Thanos. Last year, there was a fun theory going around that the Mad Titan’s distinctive matching scarring on his cheeks could’ve been given to him by Wolverine – as the marks resemble a slash from his Adamantium claws – in a previous battle between the pair.

Obviously, Thanos is dead and dusted following his double death in Avengers: Endgame, so the Avengers don’t need his help anymore, but Wolverine will still be joining the MCU over the next few years. The most popular of X-Men will surely be brought into the franchise in time now that Marvel Studios has got the rights to mutantkind.

It won’t be Jackman in the role, who said his goodbyes to the character with 2017’s Logan, but some other actor who’ll have the tough job of filling the Australian star’s boots. Hopefully though, this one’ll get to wear the iconic yellow and blue outfit.
