It may be the worst-kept secret in the industry, but it seems Warner Bros. is finally ready to pull back the curtain on Wonder Woman 2.

Word comes by way of The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that Patty Jenkins’ standalone story is now on the verge of becoming Warner’s third highest-grossing release of all-time domestically. Currently simmering north of $380 million, Wonder Woman‘s box office total is now within touching distance of Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($381 million), and will likely overtake David Yates’ final Harry Potter film – Fantastic Beasts notwithstanding – by the end of day. It’s an impressive feat by anyone’s standards, and another feather to add to Diana’s cap, even if the DC tentpole is set to fall far short of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight ($533.3 million) and The Dark Knight Rises ($448.1 million).

But make no mistake, the future is very, very bright for the studio’s Immortal Warrior, and after a ton of rumors flooded the Internet soon after Wonder Woman‘s theatrical release early last month, it appears as though WB is about to formally announce Diana’s next solo adventure to the world.

As part of THR’s box office update, the outlet claimed Wonder Woman 2 and its as-yet-mysterious release date will be unveiled to those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con this coming weekend. Patty Jenkins is purportedly back in the driver’s seat, and if previous rumors are anything to go by, the writer-director may be about to whisk Gal Gadot’s heroine off to the Cold War, where Diana would lock horns with the Soviet Union.

Perhaps the bigger question is whether Chris Pine will return as Steve Trevor. It’s unlikely, of course, but fans aren’t ready to give up on Diana and Steve just yet.

Wonder Woman 2 is all but official at this point, but if you’re hoping to catch Warner’s announcement as it happens, stay tuned to We Got This Covered throughout the course of San Diego Comic-Con, which will kick off in earnest on Thursday, July 20th. For those curious, the WB panel has been slated for Saturday, July 22nd at 11:30 am PT.
