Placing Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role as the illustrious, brilliant scientist, the magical sizzle reel, which feels very Inception-esque, tees up an intriguing origins story straight out of the Quantum Realm.

We might not get a whole lot to go on with the footage here, but from what the studio has shown off we’re already we’re hooked. This looks to be a pretty unique, and refreshing film for Marvel, especially when compared to what they usually put out, and we can’t wait to see how the more mythical side of the MCU is explored.

In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s been a busy week in Marvel’s trailer camp, with Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards heralding a new peek at next month’s Captain America: Civil War. And while Joe and Anthony Russo’s monumental face-off will be occupying much of the mind’s share over the next few weeks, there’s no doubting that, following today’s mystical first trailer, Doctor Strange will be raising a few eyebrows on course to its November release.

Steering that ship is director Scott Derrickson who, after plucking Cumberbatch for the lead role, rounded out his star-studded cast with True Detective alum Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One), Michael Stuhlbarg, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen.

Following next month’s calamitous dust-up in Captain America: Civil War, Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange will expand the MCU in an entirely new and wacky direction when it lands in theaters on November 4. But what are your early impressions of the mystical spinoff based on today’s first trailer? Check it out above and let us know.
