Upholding the open dialog with his legions of fans, actor Vin Diesel took to Facebook and Instagram to share a fresh batch of set photos from xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

With production now in full swing for the 2017 action sequel, fans have been treated to an early peek at Diesel’s sports extremist back in action, the newcomers to the cast – including Bollywood Star Deepika Padukone – and a very recognizable fur coat.

D.J. Caruso will herald the return of Xander Cage from behind the lens, and Diesel recently posted a heartfelt message welcoming the dormant franchise back from the brink.

“The Director, producers and myself sitting in wonder as we take in the artistry of the many craftsmen that have built these amazing sets. You can tell the first day what level of crew you will be working with and it is clear that XxX has the very best. Grateful for the opportunity to make magic… The years of development, the months of preproduction… And here we are at the beginning of production.”

Currently pegged for a release next year, the actor and Paramount have been busy assembling a who’s who of action talent, including Toni Collette, the returning Samuel L. Jackson, Furious 7 cohort Tony Jaa and Irish UFC champ Conor McGregor, not to mention Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, Jet Li, and Andrey Ivchenko as mysterious villain Raif.

Hitting the reset button on another cult franchise, Vin Diesel will don the fur coat as the titular sports extremist when xXx: The Return of Xander Cage blasts into theaters in 2017.
