Zac Efron Says Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising Will Be “Off The Chain”

Neighbors was one of the funniest comedies of 2014 and certainly one of the genre's best offerings of the past several years. With strong reviews and a $268 million box office haul, it's no wonder that Neighbors 2 was given the green light. While the project is still in its nascent stages, some details on what to expect are slowly starting to drip out.

We’ve already heard that Chloe Moretz would be joining the cast as the head of a sorority that’s going to cause trouble for Mac and Kelly, and we were also told recently that instead of being the main antagonist like he was in the first film, Zac Efron’s Teddy would actually be one of the good guys this time around.

Earlier this week, we sat down with the actor to discuss his new role in We Are Your Friends. But, before the interview came to a close, we snuck in a quick question about Neighbors 2. Zac was tight-lipped, as expected, but did reveal that him being on Mac and Kelly’s side was news to his ears, and that we should expect a “crazy” and “off the chain” sequel.

WGTC: So we’re hearing that in Neighbors 2, you won’t be the main antagonist.

Zac Efron: “Is that what you heard? Because I just got emailed the newest draft, so I don’t even know yet. I literally just got it 10 minutes ago. I know it’s going to be crazy though, and off the chain.”

Unfortunately, we ran out of time after that, but it’s interesting that Efron has no clue which side he’ll be on yet, despite earlier reports saying that he would be one of the protagonists. Whatever arc the writers end up coming up with for Teddy, we’re sure it will be just as entertaining as what we got in the first film. Efron was superb in the role, and we’re very eager to see him reprise it when Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising moves in on May 20th, 2016.
