Zack Snyder Wants More Man Of Steel Before Justice League

While Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder doesn't have complete control over what Warner Bros. is doing with their DC properties, it's safe to assume the man is pretty influential considering that, at least for now, the Justice League's strongest member is in his hands. This means the news that Snyder would rather spend more time developing Superman's story before expanding further into the universe could stall Justice League even more than it already has been.

While Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder doesn’t have complete control over what Warner Bros. is doing with its DC properties, it’s safe to assume the man is pretty influential considering that, at least for now, the Justice League’s strongest member is in his hands. This means the news that Snyder would rather spend more time developing Superman’s story before expanding further into the universe could stall Justice League even more than it already has been.

The original date announced for the ensemble film was summer of 2015. Considering there’s been news about script difficulties, a director hasn’t been found, and no other characters aside from Superman have been cast (at least publicly), there’s not much hope for Justice League arriving that soon.

Destroying what little hope may have been left, in a recent interview Snyder said he had heard nothing of a 2015 release and he thinks the studio would be better served to wait until Superman is further developed before broadening their scope. Check out his quote below.

“Look … completely hypothetically, I feel like you need … to get Superman a little further down the road, I think, before you can do a Justice League movie.”

Now whether that is what Snyder actually believes or merely what he’s supposed to believe due to his involvement with the franchise isn’t clear, but his comment definitely doesn’t bode well for Justice League coming sometime soon. It does, however, sound like the rumored Man Of Steel trilogy is a very real thing.

If there is a trilogy in place, one question is how long will Warner wait before they start setting up the expanded universe? We already have word of one such Easter Egg in Man Of Steel, but it could be a rather insignificant one compared to the foreshadowing and crossovers that Marvel has brought into their films.

A lot of these questions will hopefully be answered on June 14th when Man Of Steel flies into theaters, but until then, we’ve got nothing else to do except speculate on the future of the DC cinematic universe.
