What’s better than one movie about zombified Nazis? Two movies about zombified Nazis!
With Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead set to arrive sometime in 2014, after its premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, here’s your first full trailer for the somewhat anticipated sequel to schlock horror fest Dead Snow. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a Nazi zombie black comedy, bringing the blood-soaked mayhem once again.
In true sequel fashion, Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead takes up right where Dead Snow left off. Our put-upon hero Martin, having killed his girlfriend, chain-sawed his own arm, and witnessed the gory rise of a zombie Nazi battalion, awakens in a hospital room with smiling faces peering down at him. The doctor explains how they found him, as Martin flashes back to the rather nasty events of the first film. Of course, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and the doctor has kindly reattached Martin’s severed arm…which looks like it will have some dire consequences.
While the trailer does not seem to give us much in the way of new footage, chances are that the mere existence of a Dead Snow sequel will bring enough people into the cinemas. Director Tommy Wirkola is back at the helm, doing what I think he probably does best (and that doesn’t include witch-hunting fairy tale characters). Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead looks like it’s going to be more of the same, with Colonel Herzog back and still very angry/dead.
There is no release date set for the sequel yet. Given both the original’s popularity and the backing of Sundance Film Festival though, we’ll likely be hearing both about a date and a US distributor before long.
