On the one hand, it could be said that the zombie subgenre has been overexposed in the past decade or so, but all it really takes is for the right product to come along to reignite the interest of even the most jaded fan. Earlier this year, the Resident Evil 2 remake kicked all kinds of ass on the gaming side of things, and now it’s Zombieland: Double Tap‘s turn to do it on the silver screen.
Speaking of which, the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel has dropped slightly sooner than expected, and can be viewed at the top of this article. To the delight of pretty much everybody, all four members of the core cast – Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin – have been reunited. Suffice it to say, the original flick’s marriage of horror, action and comedy has carried over to the second installment.
As you can see from the footage provided, there have been a few new additions made as well. From what we can tell, Rosario Dawson’s character looks to play a sizable role, with Zoey Deutch also bringing something different to the table as “Madison.” And if that weren’t enough, Tallahassee and Columbus are about to meet their doppelgangers in the form of two fellas played by Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch – much to the chagrin of Wichita.
Of course, you don’t need me to tell you how the fearsome foursome headlining this bad boy have each enjoyed accomplished careers of their own, so they probably wouldn’t have signed on for just any screenplay. In fact, according to Harrelson, his experience on the second go-round has been a blast, as he was noted to have said the following while filming was still occurring:
“What we’ve shot so far, I’m really impressed with. Getting to hang out with these guys — Emma, and Abbie, and Jesse, and Ruben — I feel so lucky, really, really lucky. You know, it’s literally laughing all day long, and that’s your job. Like, my job is, I laugh all day long? It seems unbelievable. So, I feel really lucky right now.”
Zombieland: Double Tap arrives in theaters on October 11th.
