Juicy J Enlists Kanye West For New Song “Ballin”

A Juicy J song featuring Kanye West is good in theory, but the result leaves much to be desired – at least if you’re going off their recent collaboration, “Ballin.” The song, which premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, is a brand new track off Juicy J’s upcoming album, Rubba Band Business: The Album.

“Ballin” falls short on its intention to showcase each artist at their best, backed by a somewhat uninspired, lazy beat with the verses to match it. You would think Kanye could save the day here, and normally, he does, but his only contribution is a three word hook repeated over and over again, leading one to believe that his inclusion on the track is really nothing more than for promotional purposes.

Producer TM88 is generally known for great work, but his production on this song simply falls short. If the beat had just a little more bite to it and maybe some actual bars from Kanye (something in vein of the feature on his Desiigner remix?), Juicy J’s “Ballin” would have probably turned out much better than it did.

For those who dig the song and are wondering what a music video could have in store, it will be premiering later this week exclusively on Tidal – so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.
