Selena Gomez is taking some time off after suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, and depression – all side effects stemming from her Lupus diagnosis. The singer and actress has been dealing with the autoimmune disease for the past couple of years before unveiling her illness to the public last October.
Gomez writes in a statement sent to People that the break was because she “wanted to be proactive and focus on maintaining” her health and that she needed to “face this head on to ensure” that she’s doing everything possible to be her best. According to one of People’s sources, they wanted to make it clear that the break is not related to alcohol or substance abuse, and the singer simply hadn’t felt like herself.
The break comes in the midst of the “Hands to Myself” star’s massive world tour that was in support of her recent record, Revival. Obviously her health takes priority here, so it goes without saying that the remaining dates on the run, which was expected to last until the middle of December, have been canceled. However, chances are that when she finally gets back to being herself and is ready to hit the stage once again, Selena Gomez will find a way to make it up somehow.
