When the second season of Squid Game ended the six month gap until the conclusion looked like an eternity. But now here we are, less than two weeks away from the much anticipated release of the third and final season. It’s been a long road, but luckily we’re here to provide a brief rundown on everything you need to know.
The recently released trailer for season three didn’t give us a whole lot to go off of when it comes to information about the finale but it did give numerous brief glimpses of the games to come. It’s looking to be even better than the previous instalment, and that’s saying a lot!
We can also see some conflict between characters which isn’t too surprising, we know the players have largely split into two sides during the last season so there’s no doubt we’ll see more drama between both sides.
Where we left off

While it’s only been six months since the last season came out there have been a lot of great shows to distract us since then. Series two left Gi-hun and his band of rebel players in a pretty dire situation. Having orchestrated a revolt in an attempt to put a stop to the games the group was able to get pretty close to the operations room of the Front Man.
But of course, the real Front Man was by Gi-hun’s side the entire time. Having put himself in the game as Player 001, the Front Man gained the trust of Gi-hun over the course of several games. But just when it seemed they were on the verge of bringing an end to the games the Front Man betrayed everyone.
The battle resulted in the deaths of many characters including Gi-hun’s best friend Park Jung Bae. While Gi-hun was allowed to live, many of his allies are now dead. He’s also currently unaware that the Front Man was Player 001, believing the man he thought was his friend died at the hands of his enemy.
Meanwhile, detective Hwan Jun-ho, the brother of the Front Man, is desperately trying to locate the island where the games take place.
What does this mean for Squid Game season 3?
We can certainly expect an emotional and impactful conclusion to the story. While Gi-hun will no doubt be reeling from the bitter loss of his closest friends the games are set to continue which means there will only be more carnage and bloodshed. The games will no doubt be much more brutal this time around with the after-credits scene teasing a new variation on the red light, green light game.
We can also expect to see Gi-hun finally confront the Front Man where he will learn of his true identity. Will he be able to put a stop to the games once and for all? Or will Gi-hun die trying? We’ll be finding out very soon.
