A specific ‘Stranger Things’ anniversary is high on tragic nostalgia that has no official future

Though Netflix kickstarting it in the first place is indeed suspicious

When Stranger Things started streaming last season, fans had no idea the new character they were about to get to know and fall in love with. One day, Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson breezed into everyone’s life, and now Twitter is blowing up with tributes on the eve of a specific anniversary because he had that much of an impact on every fan’s life.

Season four began streaming on May 27, 2022, and it wasn’t long before the leader of The Hellfire Club was introduced. When Mike and Dustin sit down at lunch, Eddie is reading an article in the newspaper to the group that was detailing the possible dangers of the board game Dungeons & Dragons. When he jumped on the cafeteria table to deliver his impassioned speech, he immediately transformed fans who could relate to his character and were inspired to seek out their authentic selves.

When Joseph Quinn agreed to play the role of the guitarist in the band known as the Corroded Coffin, he had no idea it was going to lead to such an exemplary example of forever love.

There are many characters in Stranger Things, but Eddie Munson is, hands down, the winner as he is the one who taught viewers how to “unapologetically” embrace themselves. Safe to say, anyone badmouthing him will find themselves facing some serious bashing.

Which scene was his best? Fans have different opinions, but all agree that he was, by far, their favorite character.

Of course, the cafeteria scene with him walking on the table comes up on the list of favorite scenes.

Sadly, his character was sacrificed by the end of season four. But even though a year has passed with Joseph Quinn giving suspiciously weird responses to his character’s future in Stranger Things, hopes of his return are still strong, especially since Netflix’s Twitter page kickstarted the “one year since we met Eddie” trend in the first place.

Not to sound hopelessly optimistic, but it is very much possible to bring Eddie Munson back from the dead. If they can do it in other movies and TV shows, why isn’t it possible in Stranger Things? After all, he died in The Upside Down. That means his death is not official.

Some fans would love to see an Eddie Munson spinoff and others simply expect him to come back somehow. Well, it can all be solved once Stranger Things‘ final season hits Netflix. But unfortunately, principal photography, which was set to begin in May 2023, has been indefinitely delayed in the wake of the Writers Guild of America strike. Currently, there is no official word on when the show will begin production.
