An altercation between a customer and a pharmacist at a Walgreens in Arizona has sparked outrage online due to the way the man spoke to the woman behind the counter. While the unidentified customer, whose shirt indicates he’s a coach, seems to be frustrated over the timing of his medication, viewers claimed that he went too far in how he spoke to the worker.
The video appears to have been recorded by another customer at the Walgreens and shows a customer getting increasingly frustrated with the pharmacist behind the counter. “B—h, you listen,” he is heard saying to her as she tries to talk. “You keep interrupting me, and I’ve told you the same s–t five times, and you keep giving me the wrong answer.”
The pharmacist tells him to take his dose on Thursday, but before she can finish, he interrupts, telling her he’s leaving on Sunday and can’t. Both the customer and the pharmacist seem to talk over one another as things get more heated between them. The text in the video says that the man “doesn’t realize that she’s trying to help him, but he won’t STFU.”
The poster claimed that the coach “didn’t read directions on medication that should have been refrigerated.” Apparently, the medication can’t be refrigerated again, meaning it has to be used within 21 days, which leaves the man in a bit of a predicament as he’s leaving for a trip soon.
It’s clear that there is some sort of misunderstanding between the two, but the man’s temper seems to be making things more tense than they need to be. At one point, the man even storms out of the store, only to return after a brief period to continue the argument.
TikTok suspects racism was a factor
Viewers speculated that the man’s rage may have stemmed from a racist mindset: “He’s more mad at the accent than the actual issue,” claimed one comment. Others asked why a manager or others at Walgreens didn’t step in, with some labeling the man’s behavior as “abusive.”
“Just because there’s an accent does mean she doesn’t understand,” the poster wrote in the description. “This guy obviously just wanted to be upset and yell at someone because he didn’t read the label.”
Plenty of commenters said they wouldn’t have tolerated the outburst from the customer: “First time he called me a b—h I’m walking away and forgetting his existence entirely,” wrote one. “As soon as he started cussing at me, he gotta go. All customer service is out of the window,” added another.
Some also called for the man to lose his job as a coach, with viewers saying “the fact he’s a coach somewhere is concerning.”
