Arizona mother fights home intruder who attacked her and her daughter, but the intruder claimed it was all part of husband’s roleplay

Thankfully, he didn't have a weapon.

A mother was left shaken after a man walked into her Arizona home and allegedly attacked her and her daughter. The encounter was partially caught on a camera mounted outside the woman’s home and shows her fighting off the intruder, who claimed her partner had sent him. The man’s attorney later claimed that the woman’s husband had orchestrated it all as part of a “role-play” scenario.

Bella Torres had been getting ready to go “Trunk or Treating” with her children on Friday night when her husband, dressed as Shrek, left to run to the store, according to AZFamily. During the brief period of time the husband was out of the house, an intruder allegedly walked into the house.

Torres claimed that she heard the door alarm go off but assumed that it was her husband returning from the store. However, she soon realized it wasn’t her husband and that there was a stranger in her home. The suspect, who was later identified by police as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala, allegedly asked Torres if he could use her toilet before lunging at her and grabbing her throat.

Torres claimed that she and Ayala struggled on the floor of the kitchen and bathroom and that the suspect also kicked her daughter in the face. Eventually, the struggle moved outside, and Ayala is heard telling Torres, “I’m on drugs,” and “your boyfriend sent me.”

Torres asked him to say her husband’s name, but Ayala didn’t respond. When the husband returned, Ayala fled the scene.

Ayala’s attorney claimed it was a misunderstanding

Ayala was later apprehended, and in court, his attorney claimed that it was all a misunderstanding and that the 20-year-old had been drawn to the house by Ayala’s husband as part of a “role-play,” which Torres has denied.

“I’ve never seen this person in my life. Neither has my partner,” the mother said. “He was seen walking around other houses. I just got caught in the crossfire.”

Online, people were critical of Ayala’s attorney for going along with his claim that he had been sent by the husband. One X user suggested the attorney should be put “in prison for even agreeing to use that as an excuse.”

An unnamed woman who called 911 also claimed Ayala had been caught on other cameras walking around the neighborhood just before the incident at Torres’ house. “He was pacing back and forth,” she claimed. She also disputed the claim that it was a role-play scenario gon wrong: “No, no, absolutely not. I don’t think so. She was freaking out. She had all the marks on her neck and body.”

Ayala was arrested at his home after a relative saw the video of the incident on social media. He is facing numerous charges, including sexual assault and burglary.
