Donald Trump reveals he had an even more unhinged and narcissistic name for the Gulf of Mexico

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Donald Trump signed the executive order that saw the Gulf of Mexico renamed to the “Gulf of America.” But did you know that the U.S. president originally had planned to call it something else? Something much more self-centred and egotistical.

Footage from a White House press conference is currently going viral online showing the president admitting to wanting to rename the large oceanic basin to the “Gulf of Trump.” The name change he actually went with was bad enough and many don’t like it, (most people outside of America still call it the Gulf of Mexico), but this certainly would have been hated by everyone bar Trump’s most delusional followers.

“I was gonna call it the Gulf of Trump but I thought that I would be killed if I did that.” the president claims. He also claimed that advisors warned against the name change too, “I wanted to do it, I wanted to, my people worked so hard, “sir I don’t think it’ll look too good,” I’m telling you it’s a good thing.”

“I can’t wait for everything he names after himself to be undone by the next President.” Fantasized one person on X, “Of all the Trumpiest things,  this is the most Trumpy.” another stated. People don’t like how Donald keeps trying to leave his mark on things when they existed before and will likely exist after him.

Trump also explained his reason behind the name change to “America” was down to the supposed fact that the U.S. owns most of the shoreline bordering the large body of water. This is incorrect, according to bctelegraph.com, Mexico claims 2,046 miles of shoreline compared to the U.S. which claims 1,632 miles.

Donald claims he was joking

Towards the end of the video Trump tries to brush off his weird tangent as a joke, stating, “I was joking you know, when I say that, I was not gonna call it the Gulf of Trump.” However, something tells me it may not have been a joke, probably because it wasn’t very funny. Besides, we all know how much Trump loves to put his name on things which have nothing to do with him, just look at what he did with the Kennedy Center at the end of last year. 

Donald Trump is an egotistical narcissist through and through, he’s so obsessed with himself he even sunk as low as to accept a second-hand Nobel Peace Prize just to make himself feel good, so forgive me if I doubt him when he says he was joking about this one, it just sounds too much like something he’d actually do.
