‘Fake distraction’: Britney Spears admits her marriage to Sam Asghari was just another hit single called ‘Fake Love’

'Hardest years.'

A recent social media post by Britney Spears has given some insight into her recent marriage, describing her union with Sam Asghari as a fabricated diversion. The singer indicated that the marriage served as a coping mechanism during a period of deep emotional distress, which she characterized as the most difficult years of her life.

Britney said that her wedding happened during one of the “hardest years” of her life, per TMZ. She was reportedly not allowed to talk to her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she had with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. She mentioned that even though she and Sam got married, it felt more like a pretend distraction to help her cope with everything going on, saying, “It’s weird me and Sam were married but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it.”

This hardship stemmed from her estrangement from her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she had with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Spears revealed that for a span of three years, she was unable to communicate with her children by phone or text. To endure this challenging time, she relied on denial and frequent emotional release.

Brtiney Spears had it rough during her first marriage

The wealthy Spears and Asghari, who met on the set of her 2016 music video for Slumber Party, began a relationship and ultimately married in June 2022. The lavish wedding was a star-studded event with guests including Madonna, Selena Gomez, and Paris Hilton. However, the marriage was short-lived, with Asghari filing for divorce in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.

The divorce was finalized in 2024. In the aftermath of these personal trials, Spears has also shared that she is now in a better place, noting a healthier relationship with food as a sign of her healing process.

The pop star’s relationship with her sons appears to be on a path of reconciliation. Recent reports indicate that Spears has reconnected with her youngest son, Jayden. A source close to the family noted that Jayden has been spending time in California after moving to Hawaii with his brother and father in 2023. These recent interactions suggest that the mother-son bond is strengthening, which has brought Spears great happiness.

Simultaneously, her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is reportedly working on a memoir titled You Thought You Knew. The book is expected to cover his life, including his marriage to Spears, and is set for an October 21 release. The impending publication of this tell-all memoir adds a new layer to the ongoing public narrative surrounding Spears and her past relationships.
