Sound the HTTM (Hot Tub Time Machine) reunion klaxon, folks, for Craig Robinson and Adam Scott are set to reteam for Fox’s new, single-camera comedy series Ghosted.
Pitched as The X-Files with added giggles, Ghosted is the brainchild of Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment), who has signed on to write and executive produce with Robinson, Scott and his wife and producing partner Naomi Scott. Craig Robinson is perhaps best known for playing Darryl Philbin in The Office, while Parks and Recreation is Adam Scott’s major TV credit.
So far, Fox has only handed out a pilot order to Gormican’s paranormal comedy, but early signs indicate that the network could be on to a winner. Robinson, the stubborn skeptic, and Scott, the true believer, stumbling upon an extra-terrestrial threat in downtown Los Angeles that could threaten the existence of all humanity – what’s not to like? The only question left now is which one is Mulder and which is Scully.
Here’s the early logline.
“Ghosted orbits around a cynical skeptic (Robinson), and a genius “true believer” in the paranormal (Scott), who are recruited by The Bureau Underground to look into the rampant “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles – all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.”
Ghosted is the latest addition to Fox’s slate of pilot orders, with Tom Gormican now set to rub shoulders with Bryan Singer’s X-Men pilot and The Passage, a vampire thriller to be based on Justin Cronin’s best-selling horror trilogy. Ridley Scott is attached to produce the latter after it was originally hatched as a live-action feature film.
