‘Future of the Democratic Party’: Did Elon Musk just turn Zohran Mamdani’s biggest fan? The internet says he’s better than a bunch of Epstein A-listers

Comments said Mamdani compares favorably to the Epstein-linked Trump administration.

Did Elon Musk endorse Zohran Mamdani in a post on X, or is it instead a sarcastic denunciation of Mamdani’s policies, in keeping with Musk’s well-publicized turn toward MAGA? Either way, Musk seems to think Mamdan will win, and if he does, Democrats will learn lessons from the victory.

Mamdani — better than the MAGA alternative?

Musk’s remark calling Mamdani “the future of the Democratic Party,” combined with footage of New York Governor Hochul’s endorsement, prompted comments comparing Mamdani favorably to the alleged Epstein-linked figures now in the Trump 2.0 administration.

One comment noted, “This is the future, present, and legacy of the Republican Party,” referring to Esptein, “and you helped make it happen.”

Musk’s opinion of Trump and the MAGA moment has been hard to parse since Musk stepped back from his unofficial role in the Department of Government efficiency. Shortly afterward, Musk posted, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

The president and Tesla CEO have seemed to make up since then. Another comment noted the likely cynical tone to Musk’s post, noting “I’ve never heard someone use the word ‘future’ to so ironically describe ‘the end.'”

Musk mostly mum on Mamdani

Otherwise, Musk hasn’t said much about Mamdani beyond a cry-laugh emoji on a Mamdani comment stating, “Queer liberation means defund the police,” and a thinking-face emoji in response to Bill Clinton’s congratulatory post referencing Mamdani’s primary victory.

As for Mamdani, he’s been somewhat more conciliatory, noting that he and Musk agree on reducing government inefficiency, waste, and improving the quality of life, despite their ideological differences.

Regardless of what Musk thinks, as of October 27, 2025, the 2025 New York City mayoral election is entering its final stretch with just over a week to go until Election Day on November 4. Early voting is underway, with turnout already surpassing earlier benchmarks. Mamdani, the Democrat, remains the frontrunner, leading the field by double-digits in recent polls. Meanwhile, Andrew Cuomo is running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, and Sliwa remains the Republican candidate.
