Lauren Boebert has addressed the allegations surrounding her personal life, denying that she has ever had an inappropriate relationship with a member of her congressional staff, according to Yahoo News. Her response came days after a sworn complaint accused her of relationships with three staffers. The complaint also alleged that she paid one of them $200,000.
Boebert gave the denial in an interview with Capitol Hill reporter Juliegrace Brufke published Saturday. “Well, I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff,” she said.
The interview followed a Sept. 17 ethics complaint filed against Boebert. The filing also alleges that she paid one of the staffers $200,000 after the employee allegedly threatened to file an ethics complaint.
The complaint names three staffers
American Muckrakers’ David B. Wheeler filed the complaint, naming former district director Clarice Navarro, former chief of staff Jeffrey Small and current district chief of staff Raven Finegan. Wheeler’s allegations concerning Navarro make up the largest part of the filing.
House rules adopted during the #MeToo era prohibit members from having sexual relationships with supervised House employees. There is an exception for spouses. The rule has also featured in other recent congressional misconduct stories, including the case involving Rep. Tony Gonzales and a former staffer.
Wheeler’s filing also alleges that the relationship with Navarro continued from 2021 until she left Boebert’s office in January 2025. The complaint further alleges that Boebert paid Navarro $200,000 in March 2025 after Navarro allegedly threatened to file an ethics complaint.
Wheeler says his allegations are supported by text messages, bank records, court documents and recorded conversations. Much of the evidence cited in the complaint comes from unnamed sources, and the allegations have not been independently substantiated.
Boebert’s spokesperson also rejected the allegations, calling them “utterly false” and saying there was “no truth to them whatsoever.” The spokesperson characterized the complaint as a “politically motivated stunt” intended to manipulate the ethics process and generate headlines.
Navarro has also rejected the allegations involving her, describing them as “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous.” She said there was “absolutely no truth to any part of this claim.”
Jayson Boebert, Lauren Boebert’s former husband, also disputed Wheeler’s account in a text message published by American Muckrakers. He described the allegations as “a fairy tale made up propaganda” and said Wheeler had “bad sources.”
Wheeler has previously made allegations involving Boebert, including escort claims published in 2022 that used another woman’s photograph. He later acknowledged that the research was “sloppy,” according to the reporting.
Boebert has long presented herself as a “family values” politician, including previously urging lawmakers facing sexual misconduct scandals to go to church and “find Jesus.” She has now publicly denied the allegations against her, while Navarro and Jayson Boebert have also rejected Wheeler’s account.
