Beetlejuice 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 original. Previous set photos have shown off a returning Winona Ryder, still recognizable as the gothic Lydia Deetz. Catherine O’Hara is also set to return as Lydia’s stepmother, Delia. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton is reprising his role as the Ghost With the Most, Betelgeuse. Mad Monster shared some more set photos on Twitter:

Newcomers to the cast include Jenna Ortega (who previously worked with Burton on Wednesday), who will be playing Lydia’s daughter. Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe are also joining the cast in as-yet undisclosed roles, while Monica Belluci will be playing Betelgeuse’s wife.

Rumors of a sequel have swirled for years, with various names attached. Burton had previously teased a sequel not too long after the first film, titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, which was going to cover Lydia meeting a love interest while doing battle with Beetlejuice once again. It’s unknown if any elements of that draft have made it into the film, which is set for release on September 4, 2024.
