Is it time to be seriously worried about Phase Five now? On the back of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania turning out to be a complete bust, we’re getting some alarming updates about next spring’s Captain America: New World Order from our new Sentinel of Liberty himself, Anthony Mackie. Meanwhile, Marvel fans have been pushed so far by the franchise’s recent shortcomings that they are actually choosing Sony’s Spider-Man villain universe over the tried-and-trusted MCU. We never thought we’d see the day…
Good news! Captain America 4 starts shooting in March. Bad news? There’s still no script
Anthony Mackie’s loose lips have done little to assure fans that all is well in Marvel-land amid this time of crisis. With the chaotic production of Quantumania recently becoming clear, the Sam Wilson star may have let slip that the studio isn’t learning from their mistakes. On the one hand, Captain America: New World Order is officially starting its shoot in March… On the other, its leading man has yet to even get a peek at the script. Sure, Marvel likes to be secretive, but this is still more than a tad worrying for a franchise that currently seems to be in freefall.
In proof that we’re in the wrong timeline, Marvel fans think the MCU can learn a thing or two from… Sony?
We never thought we’d see the day, but Marvel fans are apparently so disappointed in what the House of Ideas has been serving up lately that they’ve officially switched allegiance to Sony, the studio that brought us Morbius. On top of the next entry in the live-action Spider-Verse earning hype levels way above Ant-Man 3 on social media, fans are legitimately suggesting that the MCU should be borrowing from Sony’s playbook in how it formulates future movies. There’s only one explanation here: Kang has meddled with the timeline.
Kang’s suspected return in Shang-Chi 2 has disillusioned diehards hoping it can make up for Quantumania
In addition to Eternals 2 apparently finally getting the greenlight, Marvel looks to be moving forward with a Shang-Chi sequel, too. What’s more, the latest intel points to Simu Liu’s hero coming up against various variants of Jonathan Majors’ Kang in the movie. Who knows how that will play out, but fans thirsty for blood are hoping that the Conqueror will actually prove his mettle next time around and succeed in defeating the protagonist, unlike his poor performance against Scott in Quantumania. No offense, Shawn, but this is one time when folks are hoping the hero doesn’t save the day.
A Star Wars icon might be remaining cagey about their Ironheart character, but we’ll tell you straight that another Marvel news roundup will be coming your way soon enough.
