Lindsay Lohan gives us her thoughts about starring in a Marvel movie

Once a mainstay of the gossip pages, the talented actress is making a comeback — but will she join the MCU?

If there’s anybody who’s suffered at the hands of our toxic celebrity culture, it’s Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan. Thankfully, the formerly- “troubled” actress seems to have been out of the spotlight for long enough that she’s been able to reassess and re-evaluate her career, and it appears that us lucky viewers might finally have a chance to see her use her on-screen talents more regularly. After all, as Netflix stated when announcing a romcom deal with her, we’re having a “Lohan-aissance.” However, if you’re a Marvel fan and have always wanted to see The Parent Trap actress don a famous (or not so famous) costume, then it seems like you’re going to have to wait for a bit longer, despite what she said a few months ago about entering the MCU being “a dream.”

In a recent interview with Allure, Lohan revealed that she was pregnant, and also delved into her hopes and dreams for her future acting and performing career, as well as different avenues she make take in the industry. When discussing plans, she ruminated on possibly producing more romcoms (she produced the two Netflix films she’s starring in), something that she should be able to fall into easily given her history with the genre — even if she has aspirations to take on what some would consider more serious roles too:

“I know that arena [romcoms] so well. I’ve dreamed of working with Scorsese and del Toro, but I’m not going to try and exec-produce their movies. I’m not going to be like, ‘Oh, I want to do a Marvel.’”

So, not quite a ringing endorsement of the comic book franchise, although it could be seen as more of an admission that she hasn’t worked in the genre much, so isn’t sure about how she’d perform. With that said, we certainly think she’s shown that she’d be a good addition to the MCU, and there have also been some unsubstantiated Twitter rumors about her possibly being in the running for the role of Jean Grey, a member of the X-Men. Although Marvel haven’t confirmed when a new film about the mutant crime fighters will be out, there will almost certainly be another movie in that particular franchise — so if Lohan is still up for it by then, we’re certain she’ll be in consideration.

For now, you can see her in the Netflix romcom Falling for Christmas, and as the lead in next year’s film Irish Wish.
