We live in an age where entertainment industries are regularly criticized for a lack of creativity, as they repeatedly go with what sells. As a result, those who are against this business plan have begun to champion independent studios and people who have no lack of imagination. Film has quite a few of these folks, and gaming does as well. However, Suda 51 could be the most zany of them all. Whenever a new game from his Grasshopper Manufacture studio is unveiled, it becomes the talk of the community. Creativity oozes out of each disc-based and downloadable release that team touches, which is certainly apparent in all of the pre-release media for Lollipop Chainsaw. To call that rainbow-filled zombie game, its cheerleading protagonist and her severed head of a boyfriend strange would be an understatement.

What some may not know is that filmmaker James Gunn (Slither) helped Grasshopper Manufacture craft the game’s storyline. The result speaks for itself through trailers, and will surely be memorable once it’s in our hands. However, those who are interested in finding out more about what the two aforementioned men were thinking when they came up with this colourful creation can check out its latest trailer. It’s a behind-the-scenes type deal, containing lots of interview footage and some great-looking gameplay action.

Lollipop Chainsaw will bring its rainbows and zombie-killing action to North America on June 12.
