Luke Cage Heads To The Big Easy In New Series

No doubt enjoying all the praise True Believers have been giving his Netflix show, Luke Cage is certainly riding high these days. In fact, his popularity will soon have the chance to grow even further when a new solo series written by David F. No doubt enjoying all the praise True Believers have been giving his Netflix show, Luke Cage is certainly riding high these days. In fact, his popularity will soon have the chance to grow even further when a new solo series written by David F. Walker (Power Man and Iron Fist, Occupy Avengers) and illustrated by the up and coming Nelson Blake II (Romulus) hits stands the spring.

But, even if you’ve been on board with this guy for some time now, there’s still reason for you to take part in his adventures. You see, Cage is now headed for New Orleans and, if he’s able to pull off the amazing feat of resisting the locale cuisine, he’ll “uncover a mystery stretching back to his very origins.” Sounds interesting, eh?

So, until we’re all able to get our hands on this book, be sure to peruse the gallery at the top for a first look at some unlettered interiors as well as several covers that’ll be made available. Personally, Rahzzah’s standard cover speaks to me most, as I feel it perfectly encapsulates Luke Cage in one image. Still, seeing him in Sherlock Holmes getup in Andre Leroy Davis’ variant is pretty amusing. Someone really should cosplay that.

Luke Cage #1 arrives in comic shops on May 17. For more information, be sure to check out the synopsis given below:

It’s big trouble in the Big Easy! Dr. Noah Burstein, the man who made Luke Cage into the unbreakable hero he is today, is dead. So when Luke heads to New Orleans for the funeral of his mentor and father figure, he’s looking for answers. Mysterious billionaires, a woman with a secret, super-powered gangs and more than a few shadowy figures lead Luke to the conclusion that there’s more to this death than meets the eye. This Hero for Hire is on the case for free, and so help anyone who stands in his way!
