Although Dark Horse certainly accrued a tremendous following when they were publishing Star Wars comic books, I think it’s safe to say that Marvel took it to another level when they acquired the publishing rights to what is arguably the biggest science fiction franchise in history. While I’m not knocking any of the fine creators who’ve worked on these titles to date, much of the success can be attributed to the simplicity of the fact that it’s Star Wars by way of Marvel. See, now doesn’t that sound enticing?
In very short order, the House of Ideas have established a flagship series that’s consistently among Diamond’s Top 10 each month, in addition to various miniseries that enrich the established universe and are no slouches when it comes to sales figures, either.
For the well-to-do collectors out there, take note because Marvel will soon roll out a 12-volume hardcover collection, complete with slipcase, including every Star Wars collected edition the publisher has produced to this point, be it a film adaptation or original story.
