Sony: We’re Working With Bethesda To Get Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC Working

It's no secret that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's development team has been having trouble porting the game's first major expansion, Dawnguard, from Microsoft's Xbox 360 platform to Sony's PlayStation 3. As a result, it's unknown whether the downloadable content pack will ever make it onto the console, which has lead to some anger within its install base, and for good reason. However, there's good news to report, as Sony has stepped in to help Bethesda Game Studios work on the problematic project.

It’s no secret that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim‘s development team has been having trouble porting the game’s first major expansion, Dawnguard, from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform to Sony’s PlayStation 3. As a result, it’s unknown whether the downloadable content pack will ever make it onto the console, which has lead to some anger within its install base, and for good reason. However, there’s good news to report, as Sony has stepped in to help Bethesda Game Studios work on the problematic project.

Sony’s Vice President, Adam Boyes, recently spoke to Kotaku regarding this issue;

“We have a big, broad dev support team that works closely with Bethesda – and with all of our partners – to work with them to solve that any sort of issues they have along the way.”

“Of course, I always want everything to work always for everyone. I can’t promise any kind of resolution or timeline but can say that everyone involved is trying their best to get this stuff working.”

It’s hard to fault the PS3 faithful for being up in arms about these problems, especially since that console’s version of the award-winning RPG launched in problematic fashion. This development is great news, though, and may pave the way for Bethesda to eventually release Dawnguard on Sony’s PlayStation Network. Hopefully that will end up being the case, but the developer has said that it will not do so until it’s pleased with how the port runs and, unfortunately, that isn’t the case at this moment in time.
