New Star Wars Comic Will Finally Reveal Snoke’s Backstory

While a lot of attention is being placed squarely on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker right now - thanks in part to a recent spread featured in Vanity Fair - there's still plenty of developments being made away from the big screen. When it comes to TV shows, we've heard rumors the House of Mouse has axed all future spinoff films and chosen to move them to their Disney Plus streaming platform - presumably because Solo: A Star Wars Story tanked at the box office. Similarly, we've heard whispers about two new series, with one focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi (with Ewan McGregor to star) and another centered on Boba Fett.

There have also been new developments when it comes to Star Wars comic books. While he hasn’t been seen on-screen since Rogue One, Darth Vader has always been a force to be reckoned with, even long before he joined the Dark Side and took on his Sith mantle.

The man born as Anakin Skywalker showed a strong connection with the Force from a young age, and his power has been on display ever since George Lucas introduced us to the franchise back in 1977. Despite his death decades ago though, a recent comic shed some light on an unlikely hero who nearly killed Vader not once, but twice.

While he might not be a Sith Lord, it looks like the newly-announced Age of Resistance miniseries will finally explore Supreme Leader Snoke’s backstory a bit. Each entry will be written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by both Ramon Rosanas and Leonard Kirk. Better yet, some of the issues will also focus on Kylo Ren and Rey, but when it comes to the Snoke book, it’s “expected to chart the early days of his corruption of Ben Solo and Kylo Ren’s training as his apprentice.”

Needless to say, we’re pretty stoked for more Snoke (sorry, that was a horrible pun), especially since he bit the dust rather earlier than expected in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and we’ll soon learn more about him as Age of Resistance hits store shelves this July.
