New Star Wars Comic Reveals First Look At Leia Organa’s Boyfriend

Star Wars 68: Rebels and Rogues, Part 1 introduces fans to one of Leia's love interests, which is sure to ruffle Han Solo's feathers.

While a lot of attention is being placed squarely on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – which is set to hit the big screen in five months – there are still plenty of interesting developments being made outside of the core movies. We recently reported on a handful of rumored TV shows (which supposedly focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett), but as a few fans know, some of the best Star Wars stories are coming from comic books. Back in 2015, Marvel Comics launched a brand new series which takes place between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, with Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, C-3PO, and R2-D2 front and center.

It looks like the writers are keen on fleshing out some of the backstories for major characters (including both Supreme Leader Snoke and Darth Vader), too, and it was only a matter of time before the subject of love interests made its way to the pages. As reported by ComicBook.com, Star Wars 68: Rebels and Rogues, Part I sheds light on one of Leia’s past relationships. With the Rebel Alliance being hunted down (they did destroy the Death Star, after all), Han and Leia set out on a journey to draw the Empire’s attention away. At this point, the pair come across a man who claims to be Leia’s boyfriend.

With Han having been involved with Sana, it seems Leia’s had a complicated relationship with one Dar Champion, who makes his appearance in the last page of this new issue. Of course, this is only the first entry in Book XIV of the new series, so we’re bound to find out more as time goes on.

The official description of the new arc reads as follows:

“Darth Vader is on the hunt for Luke Skywalker! Thousands of remote probes are sent into the far reaches of space looking for the Rebel Alliance. But the rebels send out desperate, heroic missions to lead them astray. Chewie and C-3PO lure a drone to a planet with an unstable core but learn of a secret droid civilization. With Star Destroyers and Darth Vader approaching, they must now protect these newfound droids.

Luke Skywalker undertakes a mission to lead a drone away from a rebel refueling station but runs into the Force-sensitive human Bendoh. With Luke training to be a Jedi, will Bendoh be a valuable teacher or a simple grifter? Then, Han Solo and Princess Leia plan to use a drone to take down a local crime boss, but things get complicated when they run into Leia’s ex! What could possibly go wrong?!”

With more than half a dozen issues yet to be published, we imagine this isn’t the last time fans will get to see Dar Champion for themselves, and as always, we’ll keep you updated as to whether or not this Star Wars relationship takes any interesting turns.
