‘This is my worst fear’: Georgia bartender starts doing tricks with a shaker at a company party. Then the shaker decides it has other plans

A Georgia resident named Haydan had a day she won’t forget anytime soon, and not for a good reason. At a local bar, a bartender tried to impress the crowd while making a cocktail, but things went wrong fast. The metal shaker slipped out of his hands and flew straight into Haydan’s face, dumping the entire drink on her. It was the kind of moment that nobody plans for, but once it happens, it’s impossible to ignore.

The security footage was posted on TikTok and has gathered over 365,500 views. It shows Haydan talking with a friend at the bar while the bartender is shaking up a cocktail. The shaker then slips from his grip and hits her, covering her face in the drink. The bartender looks completely shocked, and Haydan quickly wipes the alcohol from her eyes.

According to Brobible, the caption on the video reads, “Throwback to when I had a shaker thrown at my face. Story of my life!” The video caught a lot of attention, especially from people in the bartending industry who could relate to the moment. It quickly spread across social media, with thousands of people stopping to watch the clip and share their reactions.

The incident went viral and struck a nerve with bartenders everywhere

Many bartenders left comments sharing their own horror stories of accidentally splashing drinks on customers. One wrote, “Aaaaaaaand that’s why you never shake facing the guest.” suggesting the bartender may have been trying to show off with some flair bartending moves. Another commented, “Something similar happen to me before, bartender was shaking the espresso martini and the shaker popped open all over me😭.” 

The comments made it clear that spilling drinks on customers is a fear that many bartenders carry with them every shift. On the r/bartenders subreddit, more people joined in with their own stories. Some had spilled multiple drinks on the same customer in one night.

Others had dropped drinks on people in uncomfortable situations, like a priest getting an iced tea in his lap. Georgia has also seen its share of dramatic and unexpected moments recently, such as when a Georgia mother dropped her children from a burning balcony into the arms of police officers below to save them from a fire.

As for Haydan, the restaurant handled the situation quickly and covered her entire tab as an apology for what happened. She went home to change her clothes but actually came back to the same bar that night before heading out elsewhere, which says a lot about how she handled the whole thing.

On top of that, she still left a tip for the bartender despite everything. “I still tipped him,” she said. “I just went home and changed and it was fine. I did have espresso martini in my hair the whole night.” The bartender even received a gag award from the rest of the restaurant staff: “Most likely to throw a drink on a bar guest.” 

Haydan’s roommate, who works at the restaurant, later brought the bartender in to serve the staff at their party, showing that there were no hard feelings from anyone involved. The state has also been in the news for far more heartbreaking reasons, including a one-year-old Georgia boy who tragically died after being left with no food by his mother.

Haydan herself stayed relaxed and lighthearted about the whole experience. “But yeah, it was fine. He was really sweet,” she said. The bartender appeared genuinely sorry for what happened, and the restaurant’s decision to cover her tab showed that they took responsibility without making a big deal out of it.

Haydan’s willingness to come back to the same bar the same night, tip the bartender, and laugh about it afterward shows the kind of easygoing attitude that made this story enjoyable for so many people who watched it online. Sometimes, things go wrong in the most unexpected ways, and all you can do is wipe the espresso martini out of your hair and carry on.
