Trump calls for Mary Peltola to be removed from Alaska Senate race ballot following NYT report alleging Dem operatives recruited ‘Fake Dan Sullivan’

'She shouldn’t be allowed to run, and neither should the FAKE Dan Sullivan!'

President Donald Trump demanded on Wednesday that Alaska Democratic Senate nominee Mary Peltola be removed from the ballot, HuffPost reports. This follows a report claiming Democratic operatives recruited candidates to siphon votes away from incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan.

Trump shared his thoughts on his Truth Social page on Wednesday. He wrote, “In Alaska, I don’t think Mary Peltola, after perpetrating such a terrible scheme, should be allowed to run, because this is ELECTION FRAUD.” He continued his statement by adding, “The Democrats cheated! They found a man named Dan Sullivan, put him on the Ballot, then lied to the Court, and said they didn’t know anything about it. That’s perjury. She shouldn’t be allowed to run, and neither should the FAKE Dan Sullivan!”

The situation stems from a report detailing how Democratic operatives allegedly recruited spoiler candidates to confuse voters and dilute the support for the Republican senator in Alaska. One of these individuals is a retired teacher from Petersburg named Dan J. Sullivan. He announced his run earlier this year and told Courthouse News last week that he entered the race because he wanted change.

The Peltola campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee deny any connection to his candidacy

They reportedly stated they did not recruit other people to enter the race. While this strategy of using spoiler candidates often raises ethical questions among voters, it is not illegal. Trump claims this constitutes election fraud, but the law does not currently view this type of political maneuvering as a crime.

The Trump administration already took action last week by filing a lawsuit. This legal move asks the Justice Department to block the certification of the Alaska U.S. Senate race if Senator Sullivan loses. It is clear that the administration is preparing for a significant legal battle over the integrity of the results.

Trump followed up his initial comments with another post on Truth Social on Wednesday. He stated, “Mary Peltola should suffer the Legal and Political consequences for what she has done, A FRAUD ON THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, and Dan Sullivan should be allowed to run without either Mary Peltola or FAKE Dan Sullivan on the Ballot.”

Trump is positioning himself firmly against the Democratic campaign, framing the entire ordeal as a direct attack on the public. Whether or not his demands to remove names from the ballot gain any traction in the courts remains to be seen.
