‘Want to try your luck again? Be our guest:’ Iran’s foreign minister warns the U.S. after Trump endorses Netanyahu

Iran seems prepared for the war.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a pointed warning to the United States of America, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing Washington toward another war to protect his own political future, according to The Hill. His remarks came after President Donald Trump endorsed Netanyahu, renewing tensions over Israel’s influence on U.S. policy as the conflict with Iran continues.

He sent out a warning in a statement posted on his X account, “Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too.” Araghchi has repeatedly criticized Netanyahu over the war, arguing that the Israeli leader is willing to put American lives and resources at risk to serve his own interests.

The Iranian foreign minister also said Netanyahu was driving the United States into another conflict to avoid jail, regardless of the consequences for Israel or Trump. He has also previously described Netanyahu as a “degenerate gambler” who is desperate to save himself by relying on American blood and money. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for oil exports from the Persian Gulf, has added pressure to energy markets, leading to a stark increase in oil prices.

The war continues

According to The Times of Israel, Netanyahu reportedly persuaded Trump to support the campaign after Israeli intelligence suggested that a war could trigger an uprising against Iran’s Islamic government. Earlier, Iran proposed a ceasefire agreement urging the U.S. to release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, waive sanctions on Iranian oil, and lift its naval blockade.

Under the reported terms, the Strait of Hormuz would reopen only on the final day of the proposed agreement. However, Trump rejected the proposal, with U.S. officials telling The Wall Street Journal that the president doubted Iran would fulfill its commitments. The disagreement has left the conflict without a clear diplomatic resolution, while Iran also said it is “fully prepared” if Trump attacks the nation after the midterm elections.

The human cost of the war has also continued to rise. Earlier this month, the Pentagon updated its count of American service members who have lost their lives during the conflict to 21. The latest additions included Army Major Sorffly Davius and an unidentified Navy sailor, whose deaths were not combat-related, according to a U.S. official cited by the outlet.
