Health.com recently did a study on the fifty fattiest foods in the US. They chose one food from each state and compiled a list. Some of the results are pretty disturbing and the fact that some of this stuff is even in existence is crazy. Here are a few highlights from the list.
1. West Virginia: Hillbilly Hotdogs’ 10 Pound Burger
This massive burger comes to us courtesy of the state of West Virginia. Weighing in with ten pounds of beef, two heads of lettuce, two pounds of pickles, three tomatoes, three onions and twenty five slices of cheese, this monstrous burger will provide 800 grams of fat from the beef alone. With the twenty five slices of what is surely processed cheese, you can be sure those 800 grams of fat will skyrocket. Clearly meant for more than one person, this burger is one burger I hope to never come across.
2. Michigan: Tony’s I-75’s BLT
If the picture hasn’t already grossed you out, what I’m about to tell you will. Although it doesn’t look like it, there are tomatoes and lettuce hidden somewhere in the sandwich. This is an actual BLT, although it’s a bit heavy on the bacon. The 20+ strips of bacon alone will provide a tasty 192 grams of fat. But hey, we all deserve to pig out at one point or another, right?
3. Missouri: Hardee’s 2/3 Lb. Monster Thickburger
It doesn’t look like that big in the picture but don’t let looks deceive you. The two 1/3 pound beef patties mixed with four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese, mayo and the bun, will stuff you with 95 grams of fat. Believe it or not, that’s not even the worst part. As if the 95 grams of fat wasn’t bad enough, there is also 36 grams of that dreaded saturated fat.
4. Tennessee: Ruby Tuesday’s Triple Prime Bacon Cheddar Burger
Since it started back in 1972, Ruby Tuesdays has grown tremendously and now has 900 locations worldwide. How a restaurant can be so big and famous and still get away with serving meals like this is baffling, but nevertheless, the Triple Prime Bacon Cheddar Burger is on their menu. This 8oz. beef burger will deliver a hefty 115 grams of fat and that’s without those delicious looking french fries.
5. Vermont: Ben and Jerry’s Vermonster
I scream, you scream, we all scream for the Vermonster. 20 scoops of ice cream topped with hot fudge, brownies and any other toppings you’d like, this super sundae is one for the record books. Depending on your ice cream flavors, the 20 scoops can run you 120 to 400 grams of fat. Throw in the fat from your toppings and whatever sauce you like to douse your ice cream in and you may find yourself screaming for the wrong reasons at the end of it all.
So there you have it, just a small sample of some of the fattiest foods that the great USA has to offer. And you wonder why they have an obesity problem. For the full list check out: Health.com
