Ever since he was sworn in on January 20th, Donald Trump has been talking about the potential of a third term. Despite the constitution clearly stating that a president can only run for two, Trump and his followers believe that the rules don’t apply to him.
The president has already made a few remarks suggesting he would try and run for a third term. Meanwhile, individuals like Steve Bannon claimed that they were looking into ways of circumventing the constitution. Despite many claiming it would not be possible, the current administration has not dropped the topic and the latest move suggests they’re going all in on the third term plan.
The Trump 2028 merch
Donald is still dead set on getting that third term one way or another. Now he’s openly flaunting his intentions in front of everybody with merch emblazoned with the slogan “Trump 2028.” On the president’s online store you can find shirts, caps, and can coolers with the slogan. The shirts read “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules)” which is a terrifying sentiment.
Anyways, if this isn’t a clear indication of the Trump administration’s intentions for the future then I don’t know what is. However, some people are skeptical as to whether this is a serious issue or whether the president is simply trying to squeeze as much money out of his brain dead followers as possible. The insane pricing kind of indicates the latter as shirts are $36 and the caps are $50.
Could we really see Donald return for a third term?
We could write the merch off as a simple grift, after all, congress should stop this from happening right? But then again, congress hasn’t done anything to stop Trump so far. One TikToker pointed out the fact that deporting people without due process, shutting down the department of education, and shutting down USAID all require congress and yet Trump has done it anyway — he just doesn’t care.
So while these hats and shirts may seem like nothing more than Trump making noise, there’s a real possibility that we could see this become a reality. The president is running around completely unchecked at the moment and despite recent polls indicating his popularity is waning, he seems to truly believe he’ll be able to run for a third term.
If Donald Trump is allowed to continue then democracy is well and truly dead. The constitution exists for a reason, and that is to prevent power hungry individuals such as the one in the White House right now from becoming dictators. This new merchandise isn’t a joke or a grift, it’s a real and terrifying threat.
