Rep. Lauren Boebert appeared to reaffirm her loyalty to President Donald Trump on Tuesday night after Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein defeated Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky’s Republican primary.
Boebert posted a message on X shortly after Massie’s defeat. The Colorado Republican wrote: “Tonight I celebrated my son’s graduation! My friend & Co-Chair gave his all in Kentucky! Trump is my President! Jesus is Lord! I look forward to a lifetime filled with joy, purpose, and gratitude. May God continue to bless America and the freedoms that make this nation the greatest. 🇺🇸”
The post came only days after Trump publicly threatened Boebert with a primary challenger of her own. Trump lashed out after Boebert campaigned for Massie, one of the president’s most outspoken Republican critics in Congress.
One widely shared reply to Boebert’s post mocked the timing and tone of her message.

Trump on Boebert: “Weak minded”
Trump’s criticism of Boebert marked a sharp turn in their once-close political alliance. On Truth Social last week, Trump called Boebert “Weak Minded” and floated the idea of supporting a challenger in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District because she supported Massie.
Boebert responded at the time by insisting she remained loyal to the MAGA movement despite backing Massie. “I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie,” she wrote on X. Reuters reported that Boebert said she would continue to support both Trump and Massie.
Notably, the candidate filing deadline for Colorado’s June 2026 primary has already passed, meaning the ballot structure is locked. Because Boebert is running unopposed in the Republican primary for Colorado’s 4th District, no one can mount a primary challenge against her at this stage. Any challenger wishing to oppose her from within the party would have to run as a write-in candidate in the November general election.
Epstein transparency suffers setback
At the same time, Massie’s loss on Tuesday underscored Trump’s continued influence over Republican primaries ahead of the 2026 midterms. Multiple news outlets described the Kentucky race as a major test of Trump’s grip on the GOP.
The battle also carried implications for a growing fight inside the Republican Party over transparency surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Massie joined several conservative House Republicans in recent months in pushing for broader disclosure of government records tied to Epstein. Boebert also aligned herself with those calls for transparency, placing her alongside Massie and other hardline conservatives who demanded additional information from the Justice Department and federal investigators.
Trump’s allies heavily targeted Massie over his repeated breaks with the president on issues including foreign policy, spending, and Epstein-related disclosures. The race became one of the most expensive House primaries in U.S. history. Despite the public rebuke from Trump, Boebert’s latest X post suggested she wants to remain firmly inside the president’s political orbit as Republicans prepare for another volatile election cycle.
