You might expect Marjorie Taylor Greene to be jumping for joy at Ilhan Omar‘s DC home being raided by the Trump administration in the hopes of finding material that’d let them revoke her citizenship and deport her. After all, Greene herself described Omar (per Washington Post) as “treasonous” and a “foreign agent”, and said, “I’d love to have her deported.”
Greene has also been a major proponent of the conspiracy theory that Omar secretly married her brother. She dubbed Omar a “brother—-ker” and said, “marriage fraud is a felony… marrying your bother [sic] to give him an upgrade is a felony I look forward to make sure is investigated.” On top of that, in Feb. 2024, Greene said she was introducing a Censure Resolution on Omar for “working as a foreign agent in a foreign country.”
But, in the latest about-face from Greene after her high-profile political break-up with the Trump administration over the Epstein files, she’s not impressed. In fact she argues this raid is political theater to distract from the poor economic situation.
“Now this isn’t important?”
Taking to X, Greene said, “Me and Ilhan Omar are far apart policy wise. I’m pro life, she’s pro abortion. I’m pro 2A, she’s pro gun control. And on and on.” But it seems Greene doesn’t believe the Trump administration is actually going to deport Omar, saying:
“Can someone tell me how pretending to get ready to deport Ilhan Omar is going to bring gas down under $2, make health insurance freaking affordable, make a family’s weekly grocery bill make sense, and stop sending our beloved military off to fight for another —-ing foreign war???”
Perhaps accurately, given the miserable polling numbers Republicans are seeing, Greene says, “People are so sick and tired of the bull—-.” She continued, “When you dumb mf’ers at the WH actually release the Epstein files and lock up the pedophiles and rapists you all hang out with, then we will start paying attention.”
Perhaps predictably, Greene is now being pilloried by MAGA accounts for becoming “a leftist,” with some accusing her of “siding with an illegal immigrant” over Trump (there is no evidence that Omar entered the country illegally). Others pointed to Greene’s long history of insulting Omar: “How many times did you say she needed to be deported? How many times did you say she was a fraud in Congress? How many times did you say that she was illegally here and she married her brother? Now this isn’t important?”
