Former JPMorgan exec admits visiting Jeffrey Epstein island, sexual relationship with Epstein assistant, but insists was clueless about his crimes

Says he was merely "using him as an advisor".

Former JPMorgan Chase executive Jes Staley (also the former CEO of Barclays) has already had his deep connections to Jeffrey Epstein extensively documented, but, in a transcript released yesterday by the House Oversight Committee has seen him confirm and deny some specific details.

Staley appeared before the committee late last month as part of its ongoing investigation into the Epstein world. The transcript sees Staley repeatedly claim his association with Epstein was strictly professional, that he regrets the association, and wasn’t aware of his ongoing criminal conduct involving minors.

However, Staley admits he visited Little Saint James on three separate occasions, but points out “one occasion was literally to get on his island into the helicopter and left.” Staley also admits to a sexual relationship with one of Epstein’s assistants but, as far as he’s aware, Epstein did not facilitate it.

Staley also denied that he and Epstein used “Disney princesses as code names for selecting women for sexual encounters,” that he’d never had “sexual relations with any woman dressed as a Snow White” and that he has no idea who women referred to as “Tinker Bell”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” would be.

“An incredibly valuable client”

The transcript also shows Staley admitting he was passing confidential information to Epstein during the 2008 financial crisis. This relates to $44 billion of private bank inflows and various pending deals that weren’t public knowledge. Staley claims he was “using [Epstein] as a source of advice and views on the markets … So I was not paying him, but I was using him as an adviser at that time.”

Staley also admitted that he’d personally told Epstein that his bank had designated him as “a high-risk client”, due to his large cash withdrawals. However, Staley admits that Epstein had made JPMorgan “well over $100 million” and agrees with the board’s view that he would have been “an incredibly valuable client”.

In addition, Staley confirmed that years after Epstein pled guilty to state charges of procuring a minor for prostitution, he’d agreed to take a role in connection with the Epstein estate, working on documents related to it as late as 2015.

The committee, chaired by Republican James Comer is delving deep into the federal government’s handling of the Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell investigations, related records, and associates. So for it’s released a huge amount of material from the Epstein estate, including Epstein’s private emails, as well as interviewing prominent figures like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Leon Black, Bill Gates, Howard Lutnick, and Pam Bondi.

There’s no announced date for a single final comprehensive report from the committee. The investigation remains ongoing.
