Prince Harry elicited some laughs and a few groans from the crowd during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after he decided to take a few potshots at Donald Trump and his supporters.
Harry’s appearance on the talk-show was branded “toe-curling” and “cringe-worthy” by the Daily Mail as the Prince tried his hand at a bit of comedy delivering some awkward one-liners which seem to have been met with a mixed reception. Harry joined Colbert on the show for a sketch about auditioning to be the Prince in a Hallmark Christmas movie.
When quizzed by Colbert as to why he would want to be in one of those movies Harry replied, “you Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?” He then took it a step further with a not-so-subtle dig directed at Donald Trump saying, “I heard you elected a king.”
The feud between Prince Harry and Donald Trump
The prince’s comment comes shortly after the No Kings protest which saw millions of Americans across the country march in opposition of the Trump administration. Donald clearly thinks of himself as a king, during the protests the president shared an A.I. video of himself wearing a crown and flying a jet while dropping poop on people taking part in the march. Recently he also shared an A.I. generated image of himself sitting on a throne.
Many of Trump’s MAGA minions treat him like a king too so there’s no doubt Harry’s comments will have caused some upset. Maybe Trump will even have a response, (he most definitely will).
It doesn’t really come as a surprise to see Trump catch a few strays, the president has made several unsavoury remarks about Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, in the past. Last year the president even made threats to have the Sussexes deported from the U.S., this is just Harry finally getting his own back.
Harry and Colbert also made a joke about the decision from CBS to pay $16 million to settle a legal dispute with the president. Last month, news broke that Colbert’s show had also been canceled with the last episode to be aired in May 2026, many believe that the move was the result of the network bowing to the whims of the president. Of course, a joke was made about that too.
According to the Daily Mail, many viewers believed Harry’s jokes failed to land. Regardless of whether it was funny or not, he was certainly making some valid points against Trump.
