There is nothing Donald Trump loves more than himself. The president’s ego might well be his greatest downfall. Not only does he believe he’s a great president, but it’s evident that he truly thinks he’s the greatest president who’s ever lived.
Recently, Trump spoke over the phone to The Atlantic where he boldly proclaimed that he ran the world. That’s right, that’s the level of delusion that we’re at right about now. Donny-boy thinks he’s influential enough and powerful enough to control and run the entire world? Please, he can barely run his own business, and don’t get me started on the state of the U.S. ever since Trump took over.
Donald Trump’s comments explained
When talking about how his second term felt different to the first term, Trump claimed that during his first term he had to “survive,” whereas his second term has seen him running the country and the world.
“The first time, I had two things to do—run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys… And the second time, I run the country and the world.”
The president also went on to tell The Atlantic, “I’m having a lot of fun, considering what I do.”
Good to know Trump is enjoying himself while the rest of the country is in utter turmoil. But anyway, let’s circle back to that comment about running the world. Even a Trump defender would surely have to admit that this statement is insanely self-centered and self-important. It’s also not even remotely close to the truth.
On social media people responded to the president’s comments. One wrote, “Pretty sure he’s getting dog walked by both Putin and Xi right now.”
The president is not as powerful as he thinks he is
Trump’s embarrassing trade war with China has really proven just how weak his leadership truly is. Meanwhile, Russia has rejected Trump’s peace deal with Ukraine. Clearly he doesn’t have as much influence on the world stage as he thought. And let’s not forget what’s happening in Canada right now.
Trump very clearly tried to interfere in that country’s election and it backfired spectacularly. In fact, the more right wing conservative party was on track to win until Trump got involved. Thanks to him the more liberal candidate was able to pull it back meaning Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, won’t be submitting to Trump anytime soon.
Trump’s actions so far have turned many U.S. allies against the country. This bragging could serve to further antagonize the leaders of the world. Any allies that Trump has left, (which admittedly aren’t a lot) would not be pleased to hear him appoint himself world leader when all he’s done so far is make the world a worse place.
