Marjorie Taylor Greene seems to forget solar power exists while ranting about fossil fuels

Greene is trying to shift the conversation, but people aren't having it.

It’s an average Thursday here in the states, which means Marjorie Taylor Greene is back on her bullsh*t.

In a classic MTG move, the vitriolic “politician” rattled off a list of energy sources that can save the United States from foreign influence, but forgot to include some of the most obvious. Seemingly forgetting all about solar and wind power, Greene urged the powers that be to lean on “every resource available from oil to coal to natural gas and mining for rare earth minerals” rather than turn to “foreign adversaries like China and Iran for our energy.”

It’s no surprise that Greene would go straight for finite resources, like oil and coal, rather than the renewable resources the world has increasingly relied on in recent years. Her tweet was never intended to solve any problems, just to present the illusion of intelligence. And illusion it is, as people were quick to point out in the comment section of her March 30 post.

Past calls for her to resign and pointing out that she’s “legislating pollution for profit,” most of Greene’s detractors worked to shift the conversation from energy to a far more pressing issue, and one that Greene is working to steer far clear of. In the wake of the Covenant School shooting, calls for gun control are once again overpowering everything else, as politicians, citizens, and children plead with anyone that will listen (read: not Greene) to regulate our guns and save lives.

Greene is entirely uninterested in this particular conversation, of course, but that won’t stop Twitter users from flooding each and every one of her attempted side-steps with reminders of what she stands for.

Heartbreaking reminders of the bloody era we’re currently living through litter the thread below Greene’s tweet.

There were a few commenters who also criticized Greene’s handling of the topic at hand, pointing out the lack of wind and solar on her list, but most were far too focused on the gun debate to concern themselves with Greene’s empty words.

None of the responses to her unhinged Twitter activity are going to change Greene’s poor excuse for a mind, of course, but it’s heartening to see how many people are maintaining pressure on politicians. Greene’s careful avoidance of renewable sources in her faux call for American produced energy merely aims to give Republicans the pretense of productivity, even as they accomplish almost nothing, and avoid even talking about one of this nation’s most prevalent issues. Guns now kill more children than car accidents, but — if you go the Greene route — our national energy production is a far more pressing topic.
